drowning drawings

These two drawings are still works in progress but close to completion. They are a full sheet of printmaking paper torn in half, whatever size that is.... one drawing is in pencil, the other is in ink.

The ink drawing with the bunnies, I am considering putting some larger bunnies with the group of falling bunnies, what do you think? I am also toying with the idea of adding some plant life in the water. I may do a drawing of plant life then lay it on top and see how it looks. maybe I could do one on tracing paper and then lay it over the drawing as another layer. I just ordered some paper duralar I think it is called. It is the paper that those doiley drawings were done on in that previous post about the collaboration. It is sort of like drafting paper. I think it will be interesting to work with.

Give me some feedback if you have any. thanks babe!

Book By Its Cover is a blog created by New York illustrator and pattern designer Julia Rothman to share some of her favorite books.
One of the coolest features on this great blog is the weekly Sketchbook Series: every Friday, Julia posts images from the sketchbooks of some of her favorite artists. In reverse chronological order, the series has featured:
Carmen Segovia

I have never been great at keeping a sketchbook, but generally write notes to myself all over the place and then lose the notes. This has inspired me to try to put it all in one place and possibly do some drawings. My friend Kathryn has always been diligent at keeping sketchbooks, maybe I can beg her to post a few of her favorite pages. I saw many of them this summer and they were inspiring. I think you can see some on her website under artwork.

an idea

okay. since we lost half our project in the mail I have been pretty bummed out about this whole exchange business. I have actually been pretty bummed out about all of the art business. thankfully, I am getting a renewed start again. maybe the new year? anyway. I found this online and thought it was pretty interesting. I think we should think about doing something like this.
I guess they decided to work in the same colors. rather then working on each others work, maybe we could do some small drawings on the same theme, colors, concept, i don't know. just wanted to throw it out there.
how is the show preperation going? tell me all!

not doing much..

I haven't been doing much work lately. It seems to come in spurts. a lot and then none. I am ebing bad. I have new ideas, I just don't want to do them or something. I have made this cool growth chart for Freya. I will post some pics, it is almost finished. I am also working on another quilt for her. I don't know why I do it. Something in me wants to stitch. It must be from my Mom. My sewing machine is fixed finally, but I have been doing it all by hand. begging for punichment. I too have been obsessed with my tree. I didn't make any of the ornaments, but I find them all at the thrift store. I love vintage ornaments. I have three trees up this year. I am totally craving a new one and have my eyes on this one on Ebay, what do you think?

another drawing

I am not sure if this one is done, but I am sick of working on it and it is at a good stopping point.... so it is done for now. What do you think? The whole drawing didn't fit on my scanner, so the foxes actually have tales in the drawing.

They have a ton of cool artists. I have been browsing for a while. I especially liked this woman's work.

The Latest

I have been super sick all week. It is so lame. Some sort of cold, flu thing. I did finish the fox drawing this week, so I thought I would post it along with another that I finished lately. I have some more to post, but I will do it later. These drawings are about 11 inches tall.

I wish you could come and work in my sutdio with me. I have a great fall view out the window to the street. Maybe I will send you a photo. I cleaned my studio all up, it is almost in working order!

Have been working on getting a webpage up with Ryan. Such a project huh? Little at a time I guess.
